Always keenly interested in vocational work, self-improvement and skill development, I am delighted to be completing the practicum segment of my Master of Counselling Psychology degree at Marcescence Counselling Inc. This is a career shift for me, as I started my education career in 1997, following the completion of my B.Ed. and B.A. in Fredericton. In 1998, teaching opportunities enticed me to move overseas where I enjoyed being immersed in other cultures and working in various educational settings. In 2009, I completed my M.Ed. in International Administration in Madrid and proceeded to work in leadership and curriculum development roles. Last month, I repatriated to Canada and now I am adjusting to being back home, but once a Maritimer, always a Maritimer!
Reflecting on my career and professional goals, I want to honour the importance of developing a positive and supportive client-therapist relationship. To help foster that alliance, I am taking a trauma-informed, person-centred approach when working with clients. I deeply value and respect client autonomy in the therapy process, hence any therapeutic decisions are ultimately the clients. As therapy is client-tailored, I may utilise therapeutic tools from a variety of modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy.
When I am not studying or seeking my next self-imposed challenge, I enjoy quality time with family and friends, reading, travelling, cooking, and being by the sea.
I’m currently accepting new clients and I offer both virtual and in-person appointments. Please feel free to reach out to admin@mciwellness.com for any questions or to schedule an intake appointment!
